Correcting Credit Reports - Experian

EXPERIAN - Instructions for Disputing by Mail or Digital Upload

1. Experian’s mailing address for dispute requests is: P.O. Box 4500, Allen, TX 75013

2. You can submit your dispute and any supporting documents more quickly at experian.com/upload.

3. In order to help you to submit an accurate request, you may find it useful to first obtain your personal Experian credit report.

4. You can download a printable form for disputing by mail.

5. Please include the following when requesting your dispute:

a. Your full name (including middle initial and generation such as JR, SR, II, III).

b. Your date of birth.

c. Your Social Security number (if you have never been issued a social security number, please note that in your request).

d. All addresses where you have lived during the past two years.

e. One copy of a government issued identification card, such as a driver's license or state ID card, etc.

f. One copy of a utility bill, bank or insurance statement, etc.

6. List each item on your report that you believe is inaccurate, the account number and the specific reason you feel the information is incorrect.

7. NOTE: There is no charge for submitting a dispute.

8. Send your complete dispute information to the address above. Only include copies and do not send original documentation. Experian cannot return copies of your mailed request.

9. You may also submit this form and supporting documentation electronically at

www.experian.com/consumer/upload

10. If you are blind or visibly impaired, you have a right to receive your dispute results in an alternative format such as Braille, Large Print, or Audio CD and can request also on the form.

11. What happens next?

a. Once we receive your request, we will contact the furnisher of the information or the vendor who collected the information from a public record source (such as a court or other government office).

b. When we complete our dispute process, which may take up to 30 days, we will send you the results.

This item [for instance: retailer account at ABC Department Store] is inaccurate [or incomplete] because [describe in detail what is inaccurate or incomplete and why]. I am requesting that this item be removed [or request another specific change to correct the information].
